Palin & McCain: The Dynamic Duo Back Together Again

palin_mccain-420x0PHOENIX — Sarah Palin and Sen. John McCain plan to campaign together again.

The Arizona Republican announced Wednesday that the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate will join him in Phoenix on March 26 to help campaign for his re-election to the U.S. Senate.

Palin is scheduled to attend a private fundraising event that evening. The next day, she and McCain will appear together at a public event, likely a rally, according to McCain spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan.

“I’m looking forward to getting back on the campaign trail with my former running mate, and I know my fellow Arizonans will welcome her, as well,” McCain said in a statement. “Sarah energized our nation and remains a leading voice in the Republican Party.”

Since their failed bid for the White House, McCain and Palin have had a couple of public appearances together, including a dinner in Washington. But the March events will mark the first time the pair will be on the campaign trail together since 2008, Buchanan said.

Palin has criticized McCain’s campaign since their loss, saying in her book “Going Rogue” that there was substantial tension between her advisers and McCain’s. She also details how she was prevented from delivering a concession speech in Phoenix on Election Night, and how she’d been kept “bottled up” from reporters during the campaign.

Palin hasn’t criticized McCain himself, and the senator has stood by his decision to choose Palin as his running mate and has staunchly defended her.

Earlier this month, McCain refused to discuss material in “Game Change,” a book that says Palin’s vetting was “hasty and haphazard.”

“I wouldn’t know,” McCain said on NBC’s “Today” show. “The fact is, I’m proud of Sarah Palin and I’m proud of the campaign she waged. She energized our party.”

During the interview, McCain predicted Palin will be a “major player” in GOP affairs.

Why I Can’t Stop Watching David Letterman Over Palin Jokes

I really wish I could stop watching David Letterman over his rude and distasteful jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter.

Letterman’s “Top 10″ list Tuesday night focused on Palin’s recent trip to New York, and included several cracks: “Bought makeup from Bloomingdale’s to update her ’slutty flight attendant’ look,” Letterman said.

But it was a line in Letterman’s monologue that set off a firestorm: “One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.”

Palin was in New York with her 14-year-old daughter, Willow. source abcnews

Radio hosts in Sacramento were recently taken off the air and forced into a public apology over their remarks about transgender people, and we all remember how Don Imus was fired for calling woman basketball players something I won’t repeat here.

This is a good example of the abuse of free speech. I am reluctant to call for Letterman to be fired but if there is any consistency in standards, Letterman will be fired. His comments were at least as bad or worse than Imus.

There will be no firings however. Letterman is making a play for publicity while the Tonight Show with Conan O’brien still has the new show jitters. He no doubt has his network’s blessing and this is probably helping his ratings. Besides, the subject of the derisive comments were conservatives so who in the left wing media cares anyway, right?

Back to why I can’t stop watching Letterman. I don’t watch him now so I cannot stop what I haven’t started. He simply is not funny so I do not watch him.

But if I did, that would be the end of it.

Meghan McCain: “Old School” Republicans Are “Scared Shitless”

Meghan McCain: “Old School” Republicans Are “Scared Shitless”. Boy, if I was John McCain I would want her in my corner…NOT!

Speaking to an affectionate crowd of Log Cabin Republicans on Saturday evening, Meghan McCain ridiculed the party her father headed this past election, declaring that “old school Republicans” were “scared shitless” of the changing landscape.

The Senator’s daughter, who has quickly become something of an iconic figure in the gay conservative community since the end of the election, took repeated shots at the GOP for its antiquated mores.

“I feel too many Republicans want to cling to past successes,” said McCain. “There are those who think we can win the White House and Congress back by being ‘more’ conservative. Worse, there are those who think we can win by changing nothing at all about what our party has become. They just want to wait for the other side to be perceived as worse than us. I think we’re seeing a war brewing in the Republican Party. But it is not between us and Democrats. It is not between us and liberals. It is between the future and the past.”

Later, she called out those officials in the Republican tent who insist that tactical improvements, technology and brass-knuckle politicking are the path back to relevance.

“Simply embracing technology isn’t going to fix our problem,” she said. “Republicans using Twitter and Facebook isn’t going to miraculously make people think we’re cool again. Breaking free from obsolete positions and providing real solutions that don’t divide our nation further will. That’s why some in our party are scared. They sense the world around them is changing and they are unable to take the risk to jump free of what’s keeping our party down.”

Did Roland Burris Lie or Did He Just “Forget”

Illinois Sen. Roland Burris reiterated Monday that his sworn testimony regarding his contacts with then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich was not inconsistent with what he later said in an affidavit about them.

The Democratic senator’s comments come a day after Illinois Republican leaders called for a perjury investigation into whether Burris deceived the public last month when he failed to tell state lawmakers that former Gov. Blagojevich’s brother solicited him for campaign cash at the same time that the governor himself was considering whether to appoint him to fill the Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama.

“We said in our testimony before the impeachment committee, my lawyer stated, that we will have to file additional information in our report because there were some questions asked where we had to get sufficient information for the committee,” Burris told reporters outside Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church on Chicago’s South Side prior to leaving for a five-day statewide “listening tour” of his new constituents.

“We also stated that we might be incomplete in our report,” he said.

McCain: I can’t Promise to Support Palin for President

artmccainpalingiI know this story is a bit old (about 2 weeks), but it just goes to show you what a weasel John McCain really is.  He brings Palin on to his team and when they lose, treats her like crap.

It’s no secret that I supported McCain/Palin early on and I wrote in a post  that a vote for McCain would be a vote for our next, next President, Sarah Palin. This is true so long as Palin doesn’t need McCains vote.  Cuz she probablly won’t get it.

I have always had issues with John McCain but this certainly puts the last nail in the McCain coffin for me.

February 21, 2010

Folks – despite their protestations otherwise, I can prove everything.
Meg Whitman tried to hire me. Red County feigns objectivity – yet they took money from Whitman six days before axing me off of their blog.

Hypocricy Illustrated – Conservatives for Whitman?

February 12, 2010

We know the “Conservatives” at Meg County were purchased.
We know that this Conservative refused to betray Steve Poizner (and that story will be told soon) – unlike Jim Nielsen, Brian Nestande and John Campbell who all switched their endorsements to join the establishment.
I am a delegate to the State CRP – this means in the [...]

List of Don’t Do’s if you’re a Republican:

Paid Bloggers? Say it Ain’t So! Brad Goerhing / Leading California Republican Blogs Jammed With Paid Bloggers?

Wow – the shock of it all!
A campaign in Northern California got busted for having one of it’s paid consultants (Note- not an independent contractor, someone on their payroll) blog and attack their opponents… the horror!
While self-righteous consultants grandstanded over my ouster from Red County, one of their own admits he’s a paid blogger and [...]

The Bee is depressed. John Doolittle isn’t around anymore to hate. Tom McClintock is regaining his rock star status in the GOP.
All that’s left is to attack those Right-Wing nutcases in the Placer County Republican Central Committee. Yours truly has a few things to say about that…
