CIA Chief Panetta Uses New Mind Reading Technology On VP Cheney -UPDATED
The CIA seems to have developed a mind reading technique and the first public demonstration of the frightening new technology is on former Vice President Dick Cheney.
WASHINGTON, June 14 (Reuters) – CIA director Leon Panetta says it’s almost as if former vice president Dick Cheney would like to see another attack on the United States to prove he is right in criticizing President Barack Obama for abandoning the “harsh interrogation” of terrorism suspects.
“I think he smells some blood in the water on the national security issue,” Panetta said in an interview published in The New Yorker magazine’s June 22 issue.
“It’s almost, a little bit, gallows politics. When you read behind it, it’s almost as if he’s wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point.” -source
The Cheney speech Panetta is almost referring to can be found here. Look for the part where Cheney advocates an attack on the US to prove Obama wrong. It comes right after the part about releasing the Gitmo detainees into Nancy Pelosi’s custody. No, you won’t find that either.
Interestingly enough, Panetta’s comments about Cheney smelling blood in the water are telling. Apparently the CIA director believes there is something to smell, and I figured that out all by myself without access to the new technology.
Pretty good stuff. With the right technology and the right friends in the media a news story gets published about what someone almost said.
I’m going with Robert McCloskey on this one:
I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
UPDATE 6-16-2009
(CNN) – A CIA spokesman is sharply downplaying Director Leon Panetta ’s recent comments that appear to question whether former Vice President Dick Cheney is hoping for another terrorist attack against the United States.
“The Director does not believe the former Vice President wants an attack,” CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said in a statement to CNN. “He did not say that. He was simply expressing his profound disagreement with the assertion that President Obama’s security policies have made our country less safe. Nor did he question anyone’s motives. source CNN.com
