It is the eight year anniversary of the War In Afghanistan. It is the three week anniversary of General McChrystal’s request to the President for 40,000 more troops. While Obama met with members of Congress to deliberate his strategy US troops suffered their worst losses for the year.
You didn’t really think you were getting a leader did you? Leaders lead when the going is tough, posers lead when the climate is clear and easy.
It’s a shame more people who DO NOT agree don’t speak up around here…
For the most part, I agree. And, I am not surprised. I have long thought Obama would be a strong force for the status quo.
On the other hand… Generally speaking, Senators aren’t supposed to deliberate while Presidents decide, as you have it. Senators are supposed to legislate! That the Senate fails to do its business is another matter altogether.
The congress is a deliberative body. They deliberate, or debate if you will, legislation, and send it to the President who has to decide to pass it or veto it.
So Senators by their nature deliberate. And the point was that Obama, being a Senator wants to deliberate the Afghan policy to death when his General has already told him what he needs to win. Unless he is intent on costing more troops their lives wastefully, he needs to sh*t or get off the pot so to speak. Commit the resources to win, or get out.
Obama is still in a campaign/Senator mode, so he cannot decide what to do.
