Who will lead us out of economic ruin?

In the last week or so, watching the U.S. economy implode, I came to the decision that I would vote for president based on which party and which candidate put forth a plan and took the leadership role to lead the country out of the crisis. Well, that was a bad plan. It appears nobody has much of an answer…..except for Senator Clinton who unfortunately isn’t a candidate. (See her plan HERE.)

On September 17, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid stunned me and probably a few other people with his declaration that nobody knows what to do. ¿Para qué? Seriously, Sen. Reid, nobody knows what to do? Aren’t you all the people who assured us when you were running for office that you knew how to handle these tough problems ?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, asked today what new regulatory actions Congress can take, said, bluntly, “No one knows what to do. We are in new territory here. This is a different game. We’re not here playing soccer, basketball or football, this is a new game and we’re going to have to figure out how to do it.”SOURCE

545 People Out of 300 Million

September 16, 2008 Latest News No Comments By SactoDan

FYI, at the time this was posted the US National debt, was $9,683,319,152,145.35

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

  • You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.
  • You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
  • You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.
  • You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.
  • You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
  • One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices -

545 human beings out of the 300 million

- are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

  • If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.
  • If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.
  • If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it’s because they want them in IRAQ .
  • If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

  • Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
  • They, and they alone, have the power.
  • They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses – provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
What you do with this article now that you have read it is up to you, though you appear to have several choices.

You can agree to “vote against” everyone that is currently in office, knowing that the process will take several years.

You can decide to “run for office” yourself and agree to do the job properly.

Lastly, you can sit back and do nothing, or re-elect the current bunch.

Round and round it goes….

August 31, 2008 Latest News 5 Comments By Sage

Usually by this time in an election year I know exactly who I’m going to vote for. Sometimes I’ve had to hold my nose to do it but I’m a pretty definitive person. But, not this time around.

All the contradictions and conflicts are giving me a headache. In the past I felt certain the Democrats were indeed pro-choice…not any more. As I posted in another post here at Mountain Sage, the Democrats started their convention with an inter-faith meeting that featured Bishop Charles Blake suggesting it’s time for the Democratic Party to embrace an anti-choice agenda. Notice I don’t call it pro-life because I don’t believe it is a pro-life stance….not when the proponents of “pro-life” are also the proponents of the death penalty and preemptive war. Anti-choice or pro-fetus is a more accurate description of the position.

I wasn’t real reassured by Obama’s present votes in the Illinois Senate on abortion issues or his recent comment that the question of when life begins is above his pay grade. Wow, that’s really taking a stand Senator.

I also believed that the Democrats were champions of a separation of religion and politics. But no, not any more. Not since Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Donna Brazile and Barack Obama got a hold on the party. As a matter of fact, the head of the Democratic National Convention, Leah Daughtry is a pentecostal preacher who believes she’s a modern day Jonah and on a mission from God. Oh great, the left has it’s very own religious crackpot.

Just as the Republican Party panders to the religious, not to be outdone, the Democratic Party has hit new levels of pandering to the religious community. One reason religion is playing such a prominent role at this week’s convention is that Obama has made faith outreach prominent in his campaign.

No Way, No How, No McCain…

Hillary Clinton stands by her man, Barack Obama. In a speech Democrats hoped would erase any lingering bitterness Clinton supporters had toward the Obama campaign, Clinton made it clear that Obama is a better candidate than McCain and Democrats needed a united front to win the White House for the first time in eight years.

My friends, it is time to take back the country we love and whether you voted for me or you voted or Barack the time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose,” Clinton said after a rehearsed hug with daughter Chelsea as her husband Bill teared up.

This is a fight for the future and a fight we must win together,” Clinton said.

No way, no how, no McCain,” Clinton said, to loud applause.

[...]

The New York senator used her headlining address in Denver to call for party unity after her tense primary fight against Obama. She attempted to leave no doubt that she is 100 percent behind the presumptive nominee.

“We don’t have a moment to lose or a vote to spare,” the former first lady said at the close of the speech.

It was for her campaign a dramatic moment of closure. The crowd, waving signs emblazoned with “Unity” and both Democratic candidates’ names, rose to its feet as flashbulbs fired at the end of the address.

Clinton urged Democrats to back Obama for the sake of health care, the economy and all issues Democrats hold dear.

“It is time to take back the country we love,” Clinton said, declaring herself a “proud supporter of Barack Obama” within minutes of walking on stage. “And whether you voted for me or you voted for Barack, the time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose. …

“We are on the same team, and none of us can afford to sit on the sidelines,” she said. “No way, no how. No McCain.”

I can’t wait to see what Bill Clinton has to say tomorrow night…

La La La La….I can’t hear you.

August 25, 2008 Latest News 4 Comments By Sage

I’m sure you’ve witnessed it at least once in your life….a defiant 5 or 6 year old with fingers in his ears, la la laing and exclaiming that he can’t hear you.  The Democratic Party, Obama and the DNC have decided to take that tact with the Hillary Supporters.  They refused to hear us before the Rules committee took votes from Hillary Clinton and awarded them to Obama; they refused to hear us as they forced Hillary out of the race; and Obama refused to hear us when he selected a VP nominee.

The Democrats have lied about who and what the PUMA’s are, what their goals and desires are and have done everything to marginalize and dishearten us.  Hillary Clinton has even designated “whips” to stand in front of PUMA’s at the convention with Obama signs to pretend dissension doesn’t exist.

Well, guess what, DNC and Obamacrats – when you start talking about unity we know you are full of it….unity to you means capitulation by us to your desires.  So, when it comes to unity we can’t hear you.

As we engage in this battle of wills the definitive determination of who won will be revealed in November.  I have every idea that November 4 will be the day that the PUMA’s will ask the question…CAN YOU HEAR US NOW?
