Iran Test-Fires Medium-Range Missiles

Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard said it successfully test-fired short-range missiles Sunday in drills meant to show Tehran is prepared to crush any military threat from another country.

The display of force comes days after the U.S. and its allies warned Iran over a newly revealed nuclear facility it was secretly constructing.

Gen. Hossein Salami, head of the Revolutionary Guard Air Force, said Iran had perfected its short range missiles to make them more accurate in tactical battlefield situations and defend the country from any attacks.

“We are going to respond to any military action in a crushing manner and it doesn’t make any difference which country or regime has launched the aggression,” state media quoted Salami as saying. He said the missiles successfully hit their targets. … Continue Reading

CIA Conducted Mock Executions of Detainees

CIA Conducted Mock Executions of Detainees

Well, all I can say about this act conducted by the CIA is AWESOME! You would have to be a fool to believe that these techniques are not used on our troops when they are captured.  Probably even worse.

If scaring a scumbag in to submission and having that scumbag terrorist give up information that would potentially stop an attack or deaths of americans, so be it.

Here is a brief sampling of the story from Fox News:

WASHINGTON — The CIA’s internal investigator found that agency interrogators conducted mock executions of terror suspects and in one case threatened a detainee suspected in the USS Cole bombing with a gun and power drill, FOX News has confirmed.

The disclosures are contained in a 2004 report by the CIA’s inspector general, which has been kept secret and is to be released next week, a source confirmed to FOX News.

The report’s findings were first reported by Newsweek on its Web site Friday night.

In one case, interrogators brought a gun and power drill into a session with suspected Cole bomber Abd al Rahim al-Nashiri, the report says. The homicide bombing of the warship USS Cole killed 17 U.S. sailors in Yemen in 2000.

In another episode, a gunshot was fired in a room next to a detainee to make the prisoner believe another suspect had been killed, according to the report, which a federal judge has ordered to be made public Monday in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.

Nashiri was one of three CIA prisoners subjected to waterboarding, a brutal interrogation technique that simulates drowning that was among 10 techniques approved by the Bush administration’s Justice Department in 2002. President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have denounced waterboarding as torture.

“The CIA in no way endorsed behavior– no matter how infrequent– that went beyond formal guidance,” said agency spokesman Paul Gimigliano. He declined to comment on the contents of the IG report.

Judge Orders Guantanamo Detainee Released

One by one the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay are being released.  Was this guy reformed or was he afraid for his life?  Hey, there’s a thought; anyone who fears for their life in prison, shall be released.

huvelleWASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the United States to release a prisoner from the Guantanamo detention center who said he fears for his life after informing against senior al-Qaida leaders.

U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle issued a one-page judgment ordering the release of Yasin Muhammed Basardh, a 33-year-old from Yemen. The judge didn’t say in the ruling why Basardh should be let go, but she said it was explained during a closed hearing in her courtroom earlier in the day.

Basardh has begged U.S. officials not to send him back to Yemen or any other Muslim country.

“I am cooperative to the point where my cooperation with everyone has led to many people threatening my life,” he said at a 2005 military hearing.

Bin Laden’s Former Driver Gets 5 1/2 Years…

Breaking now from MSNBCnews

Well, Salim Hamdan’s sentence of which 5 1/2 years,(including five years and a month already served) since being charged at Guantanamo Bay, fell far short of the 30 years to life prosecutors wanted.

Hamdan thanked the jurors for the sentence and repeated his apology for having served bin Laden.

“I would like to apologize one more time to all the members and I would like to thank you for what you have done for me,” Hamdan told the panel of six U.S. military officers, who were hand-picked by the Pentagon for the first U.S. war crimes trial in a half-century.

Hamdan waved both hands as he left the courtroom, saying “Bye, bye” in English.

It will be interesting to to see if Hamdan will be held past his sentence or released this year…

Bin Laden’s Driver Guilty on Some Charges

Finally, some justice. It’s about time that we see some of the terrorists prosecuted! I hope this is the first of many to come. Salim Hamdan could be handed a life sentence. In my opinion, that’s too lenient. Give him the same fate as the people he conspired to kill.

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba — A jury of six military officers convicted Usama bin Laden’s former driver of supporting terrorism Wednesday in the first war crimes trial at Guantanamo Bay, but cleared him of conspiracy charges.

The Pentagon-selected jury deliberated for about eight hours over three days before returning the verdict against Salim Hamdan, who held his head in his hands and wept at the defense table after a Navy captain on the jury read the decision.

Hypocricy Illustrated – Conservatives for Whitman?

February 12, 2010

We know the “Conservatives” at Meg County were purchased.
We know that this Conservative refused to betray Steve Poizner (and that story will be told soon) – unlike Jim Nielsen, Brian Nestande and John Campbell who all switched their endorsements to join the establishment.
I am a delegate to the State CRP – this means in the [...]
