“War, What War?” Krauthammer

Charles Krauthammer points put the absurdity of the Obama position on the (shush, don’t say it) War On Terror.

KrauthammerObama may have declared the war over. Unfortunately, al-Qaeda has not.

More jarring still were Obama’s references to the terrorist as a “suspect” who “allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device.” You can hear the echo of FDR: “Yesterday, Dec. 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — Japanese naval and air force suspects allegedly bombed Pearl Harbor.”

This is all quite mad even in Obama’s terms. He sends 30,000 troops to fight terror overseas, yet if any terrorists come to attack us here, they are magically transformed from enemy into defendant.

Iran Test-Fires Medium-Range Missiles

Iran Test-Fires Medium-Range Missiles

Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard said it successfully test-fired short-range missiles Sunday in drills meant to show Tehran is prepared to crush any military threat from another country.

The display of force comes days after the U.S. and its allies warned Iran over a newly revealed nuclear facility it was secretly constructing.

Gen. Hossein Salami, head of the Revolutionary Guard Air Force, said Iran had perfected its short range missiles to make them more accurate in tactical battlefield situations and defend the country from any attacks.

“We are going to respond to any military action in a crushing manner and it doesn’t make any difference which country or regime has launched the aggression,” state media quoted Salami as saying. He said the missiles successfully hit their targets. … Continue Reading

CIA Conducted Mock Executions of Detainees

CIA Conducted Mock Executions of Detainees

Well, all I can say about this act conducted by the CIA is AWESOME! You would have to be a fool to believe that these techniques are not used on our troops when they are captured.  Probably even worse.

If scaring a scumbag in to submission and having that scumbag terrorist give up information that would potentially stop an attack or deaths of americans, so be it.

Here is a brief sampling of the story from Fox News:

WASHINGTON — The CIA’s internal investigator found that agency interrogators conducted mock executions of terror suspects and in one case threatened a detainee suspected in the USS Cole bombing with a gun and power drill, FOX News has confirmed.

The disclosures are contained in a 2004 report by the CIA’s inspector general, which has been kept secret and is to be released next week, a source confirmed to FOX News.

The report’s findings were first reported by Newsweek on its Web site Friday night.

In one case, interrogators brought a gun and power drill into a session with suspected Cole bomber Abd al Rahim al-Nashiri, the report says. The homicide bombing of the warship USS Cole killed 17 U.S. sailors in Yemen in 2000.

In another episode, a gunshot was fired in a room next to a detainee to make the prisoner believe another suspect had been killed, according to the report, which a federal judge has ordered to be made public Monday in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.

Nashiri was one of three CIA prisoners subjected to waterboarding, a brutal interrogation technique that simulates drowning that was among 10 techniques approved by the Bush administration’s Justice Department in 2002. President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have denounced waterboarding as torture.

“The CIA in no way endorsed behavior– no matter how infrequent– that went beyond formal guidance,” said agency spokesman Paul Gimigliano. He declined to comment on the contents of the IG report.

Judge Orders Guantanamo Detainee Released

One by one the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay are being released.  Was this guy reformed or was he afraid for his life?  Hey, there’s a thought; anyone who fears for their life in prison, shall be released.

huvelleWASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the United States to release a prisoner from the Guantanamo detention center who said he fears for his life after informing against senior al-Qaida leaders.

U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle issued a one-page judgment ordering the release of Yasin Muhammed Basardh, a 33-year-old from Yemen. The judge didn’t say in the ruling why Basardh should be let go, but she said it was explained during a closed hearing in her courtroom earlier in the day.

Basardh has begged U.S. officials not to send him back to Yemen or any other Muslim country.

“I am cooperative to the point where my cooperation with everyone has led to many people threatening my life,” he said at a 2005 military hearing.

More Troops to Afghanistan

President Bush, oops, I mean Obama, will announce Friday that he is sending 4,000 more troops to Afghanistan.  Does withdrawing troops from Iraq and deploying more troops to Afghanistan constitute “Ending the War”?

President Obama will announce the deployment of 4,000 additional U.S. Army troops to Afghanistan on Friday, part of strategy senior officials say will merge increased military efforts with a massive diplomatic push there and in neighboring Pakistan.

“Our focus is first and foremost on those who threaten the United States of America,” a senior official said, referring to Al Qaeda and Taliban forces that now reside in unknown locations in Pakistan.

“That strategy is to disrupt, dismantle and defeat Al Qaeda, its associates and destroy their safe havens,” another senior official said during a White House briefing in advance of the president’s speech. “This strategy is a strategy, it’s not a straightjacket. It’s designed to be flexible. We will re-asses as we go along.”

The 4,000 Army trainers are in additional to the contingent of 17,000 Marines and Army personnel Obama already announced he would send into combat operations in Afghanistan. Those deployments will start this spring and continue through the summer. The Army trainers will focus their efforts on expanding the ranks and professionalism of the Afghanistan National Army (ANA).
