Who will lead us out of economic ruin?
In the last week or so, watching the U.S. economy implode, I came to the decision that I would vote for president based on which party and which candidate put forth a plan and took the leadership role to lead the country out of the crisis. Well, that was a bad plan. It appears nobody has much of an answer…..except for Senator Clinton who unfortunately isn’t a candidate. (See her plan HERE.)
On September 17, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid stunned me and probably a few other people with his declaration that nobody knows what to do. ¿Para qué? Seriously, Sen. Reid, nobody knows what to do? Aren’t you all the people who assured us when you were running for office that you knew how to handle these tough problems ?
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, asked today what new regulatory actions Congress can take, said, bluntly, “No one knows what to do. We are in new territory here. This is a different game. We’re not here playing soccer, basketball or football, this is a new game and we’re going to have to figure out how to do it.”SOURCE
Ok, I give McCain a little credit. He did come up with the idea of firing the Chairman of the SEC….something I pretty much agree with, but it’s rather like closing the gate after the horse has escaped. Thanks, but is that the best you can do?
Speaking at a rally in Cedar Rapids, McCain called for the creation of a federal agency, which McCain called the mortgage and financial institutions trust, or MFI, that he said would work with regulators and the private sector to intervene with troubled institutions. He blamed the SEC, the primary regulator of Wall Street, for the current crisis, saying it had let “speculators and hedge funds turn our markets into a casino.
“The chairman of the SEC serves at the appointment of the president and, in my view, has betrayed the public trust,” McCain said. “If I were president today, I would fire him.” SOURCE
Now, let’s see what Obama had to say. You might want to sit down for this stroke of genius comment:
Obama said he would present his own detailed recovery blueprint once the Treasury and Federal Reserve plan is known, as McCain proposed a trust to intervene before financial institutions approach bankruptcy. SOURCE
Well, thanks Obama…we’ll be waiting with baited breath. I’m sure in a day or two you can steal enough of Hillary’s ideas to put together a plan. Or maybe Franklin D. Raines of the failed Fannie Mae who you didn’t *wink wink* get advice from can help you out.
I SERIOUSLY do not want to hear one damn more word from either candidate about what the other candidate said or didn’t say or did or didn’t do. I want some DAMN ANSWERS. The whole country wants some damn answers. You people, both Republicans and Democrats have totally betrayed our trust in your leadership. You have sat back padding your friggin’ pockets with lobbyists money (or “bundler’s” money, like we give a shit about that little differentiation) and you have fattened your own wallets with record profits for the gas companies, and you’ve bickered back and forth and not done a damn thing to prevent this melt down. Meanwhile, millions of Americans are struggling to pay the mortgage and their damn gas bills.
I’m so SICK of you frauds. You stand up and promise to take America in a new direction….well I hope somebody has a damn map to that new America because you can’t even find your way around in the old America.
YOU, yes YOU, the “leaders” of America sat back and watched our jobs get outsourced. You passed bills to prevent us from declaring bankruptcy, you allowed the oil companies to rape and pillage, and you don’t care. We get it, we really do….NONE OF YOU CARE.
So, if you want my vote you need to put it on the table because if the economy fails and takes us down, you’re going with us.
As for my fellow Americans, if you aren’t outraged….you haven’t been paying attention.

Hello.
I would like to put a link to your site on my blog roll if you want to do the same for mine. It would be a good way to build up both of our readerships.
thank you.
That would be great. Thanks. I’ll put yours up now.
Perhaps a trial for treason would be in order? While these elected officials get rich in Washington the national debt clock spins up so fast we get dizzy watching it. And while we’re asking, what did they do with the Social Security money?
I know I sound like a broken record, but the boys in Washington (of both Parties) need to be held accountable for the biggest scam against the American people in history. Compared to the US Congress, the Enron scandal looks like sneaking a grape at the grocery store.
We are NINE TRILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT!!! And they want more…..
I know, SactoDan. I don’t know what the answer is.
